Cross River governor, Prince Bassey Otu, Monday, approved the dissolution of the Local Government Service Commission Board.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on media and publicity, Linus Obogo, informed that the governor’s action followed “reports of gross abuse of office and widespread employment racketeering in the recent recruitment exercise.”

According to Obogo, the governor viewed the uncovered actions as “concerning, a betrayal of public trust and an affront to the ethics of service.”

The statement pointed out that the compromised recruitment process remains suspended as earlier directed by the governor, pending a fresh, transparent and merit-driven exercise that reflects the administration’s uncompromised standards.

It further affirmed the governor’s “zero tolerance for corruption and his commitment to restoring confidence in public institutions.”
