…as MEDA organises second people first enterprise awards

All is now set for the second People First enterprise awards, a platform where the Cross River governor, Prince Bassey Otu, will be inspiring small businesses in the state.
The event organised by the Cross River Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (CR-MEDA) is slated for November 30, 2025, at the Hogis Royale hotel in Calabar, by 6pm.
The event, organisers revealed, is designed to encourage entrepreneurship while providing support to small businesses across the state, making everyday living easier through their products and exceptional services.
Chief Executive Officer and Director General of CR-MEDA, Great Ogban, disclosed that this year’s theme, “Empowering Dreams, Transforming The Future,” reflects the Agency’s dedication to honoring individuals and organizations that exemplify excellence and innovation in their fields.
“We aim to highlight the vital role of entrepreneurship in driving socioeconomic development,” he added.
According to Ogban, the event would see the Director-General/CEO of Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) Dr Charles Odii, delivering the keynote speech, a gesture that would provide inspiration and insights for aspiring entrepreneurs and business leaders.
Continuing, Ogban informed that each category winner will receive a ₦500,000 unconditional grant to support his or her business endeavors, imploring the business public not to miss what he described as an “unforgettable evening filled with engaging discussions and networking opportunities.”
The 14 award categories include Agriculture and Value Chain; Tourism and Hospitality; Fashion and Styling; Transportation and Logistics; Event Management; Manufacturing and Production; as well as Entertainment and Lifestyle.
Others are Retail, Wholesale and Distribution; Technology and Innovation; Media and Journalism; Content Creation and Filmmaking; Health and Wellness; Artisan and Skilled Works including, Education and Advocacy.
