Cross River Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (CRMEDA), has successfully completed the inauguration of schools in the Northern Senatorial District into the People First Entrepreneurship Clubs and Competition.
This latest milestone brings the total number of participating schools to 70, across the state.
Education Secretary of Obanliku local government area, Joseph Abadem, after watching the students brainstorming session, okayed the Initiative.
He charged the participants to use the clubs to unleash their creative ingenuity while transforming same into viable business ventures.
On his part, Program Coordinator, Enwongo-Abasi Okon, applauded the concept which she viewed as “forward-thinking and futuristic.”
She announced the prizes for competitors which stands at ₦1million for top prize, ₦750,000 for second place, and ₦500,000 for third, in addition to other consolation prizes, affirming that, “30 schools from the Northern Senatorial District will be participating in the pilot edition.”
The entrepreneurship masterclass saw students showcasing remarkable zeal and an array of business ideas, spanning from technology, fashion, beauty and agriculture.
For a student of Government Secondary School, Igoli in Ogoja local government area, Muhammadu Mubarak, who stunned the audience while expressing his ambition to become a reputable banker, through the offering of unique business presentations, “the event was not without its surprises.”
The event was well-attended by key educational stakeholders, including the Education Secretaries from all five local government areas in the Northern Senatorial District of the state.
