Gombe State Deputy Governor, Dr. Manasseh Daniel Jatau, has called on women in the State not to hesitate in visiting a hospital in the first month of their pregnancy.
According to the Deputy Governor, the State has had worrying indicators of pregnant women visiting the hospital which is negatively affecting its records.
He particularly cautioned the women against hiding their pregnancy status until it is eight months before going to the hospital saying, “there is no need hiding your pregnancy status in the beginning since it will eventually show”.
The Deputy Governor also appealed to women across the State, to take advantage of available health facilities for antenatal visits during pregnancy to prevent avoidable complications during delivery.
Dr. Jatau made the call during the the commissioning of the newly constructed Primary Health Care Centre in Bambam, Balanga Local Government Area, where he explained that the facility is one of the 228 new PHC’s to be established across all the political wards of the State. A landmark initiative aimed at ensuring equitable access to healthcare in both urban and rural communities.
He expressed the unwavering commitment of the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya towards providing quality and affordable healthcare services for the people of the state.
The Deputy Governor noted that the project reflects Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s vision of bringing healthcare closer to the people, thereby reducing maternal and child mortality and improving general wellbeing.
He called on the people of Bambam to take ownership of the facility, ensure its proper maintenance, and make full use of its services.
Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Abdulrahman Shuaibu, had earlier revealed that the construction of the Bambam Health Centre, from start to completion, was fully sponsored by the State Government.
He added that the clinic is equipped with a maternity and delivery section, pharmacy, staff quarters, and other essential facilities, describing it as a clear testament to the Government’s commitment to accessible healthcare delivery.
The Chairman of Balanga Local Government Area Alhaji Ibrahim Salihu Jatau, commended the State Government for the project and assured that the facility would be properly utilised for the benefit of the people.
In his vote of thanks, the Folo Dadiya, paramount ruler of Dadiya Chiefdom, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abubakar Galadima, expressed gratitude to Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration for its continuous attention to the needs of the Dadiya people.
