Arrangements are in top gear for the launch of Youths entrepreneurship programme by the Cross River Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (CR-MEDA).
The empowerment initiative tagged, “People First Youth Local Entrepreneurship and Acceleration Program (YOU-LEAP)” would equip 5,000 young people across the state with in-demand digital, technological, and artisanal skills.
Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of CR-MEDA, Great Ogban, in a statement in Calabar, disclosed that the YOU-LEAP program is designed to empower youths in both urban and rural areas to transform into architects of their own economic destinies.
His words: “This is more than a program; it is a strategic initiative to build a sustainable future for our state by investing in its most valuable asset, who are our youths.
Making the disclosure during a test run of the program’s fashion and styling segment, Ogban added that the initial phase will focus on five key areas of fashion and styling, welding and fabrication, tiling, Information Communication Technology (ICT), and video editing.
He explained that the official launch will take place after the completion of the current test run which is being carried out in collaboration with the local partner, Strings and Clad.
Ogban further charged youths to take advantage of the program and build their skills for a brighter future, instead of waiting aimlessly for white collar jobs.
