The Federal Ministry of Information has weighed in on the suspension of Badegi FM by the Niger State Government, calling for calm and respect for due process.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago had accused the station of inciting the public and engaging in unethical broadcasts.
The order was issued at an APC meeting in Minna, with the Information Minister in attendance.
The Ministry reminded stakeholders that only the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has the power to suspend radio stations.
“It praised the state for forwarding the complaint to the NBC and urged everyone to await the outcome of a proper investigation.
“The NBC will handle this fairly and impartially,” the Minister assured.
