The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris has announced the postponement of the earlier scheduled special Federal Executive Council meeting.

The meeting which was earlier scheduled for Tuesday 15 July 2025 will now come up on 18 July 2025.

The Minister also urged Nigerians to join in prayers as the nation prepares to bid farewell to one of Nigeria’s foremost statesman, Muhammadu Buhari.

Idris also said that the declared national mourning commenced on Sunday.

“His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has declared seven (7) days of National Mourning which commenced on Sunday, 13th July 2025. During this period, the National Flag will fly at half-mast across the country. All State Governments and the private sector are hereby directed to comply accordingly. In addition, the President has declared tomorrow, Tuesday, a Public Holiday,” he said.

The minister also announced that there will also be a military ceremony and Jana’iza in Daura as part of the burial arrangements for the late President.

The Minister said there will be a brief military ceremony at the Katsina airport upon arrival of the body in Katsina

The Minister also disclosed that President Tinubu has ordered for the opening of condolence registers in all ministries, Departments and Agencies. With additional registers to be opened at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, as well as at Nigerian Embassies and Missions abroad.
