In the early hours of Monday, 7th July 2025, a petrol tanker belonging to Mai Kifi Petroleum fell off the road at Gidan Zuma, along the Kango-Lapai axis.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 9:00 AM, prompted a swift response from the Area ‘I’ Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lapai Division.

Upon receiving a distress call about the fallen tanker, NSCDC operatives quickly mobilized to the scene to secure the area and prevent any potential fire outbreak or road accident. The team also worked to discourage unauthorized individuals from attempting to scoop petrol, which could pose severe safety risks.

Fortunately, no casualties were recorded, and there were no immediate threats at the scene when officers arrived. As of the time of filing this report, NSCDC personnel remain on ground, awaiting the arrival of another tanker from Suleja to commence the safe transloading of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from the fallen tanker.

The NSCDC Lapai Command reiterated its commitment to public safety and called on residents to avoid the area until the operation is completed. The command also urged the public to always report such emergencies promptly and refrain from endangering their lives by attempting to scoop fuel.
