The Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN) has announced the hosting of its maiden International Diplomatic and Security Conference themed “Nigeria’s 4Ds Foreign Policy Strategy Amidst Global Security Challenges, Strategic Misperceptions, and the Age of Disinformation.”
In a statement signed by the chairman of DICAN, Mr. Fredrick Idehai, the Conference, which is in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is to deepen public understanding of the 4Ds Strategy – Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora – as Nigeria repositions itself in a complex world order.
“This landmark event, he said “underscores the critical intersection between diplomacy, national security, and the media in navigating Nigeria’s global engagements.”
The conference is also set to discuss issues like Disinformation and Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) and its impact on Nigeria.
The event which is set to take place in Abuja on the 23 July 2025 at the Rotunda Hall, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, involves the role of diplomacy, Intelligence, and Media in shaping national and global stability, while also reflecting the complexities of the current global landscape.
He stressed that The conference will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders from the diplomatic, intelligence, security, media, and academic communities.
“Including the Foreign Affairs Minister and other dignitaries, including the former Nigerian presidents, state governors, legislators, security chiefs, heads of intelligence agencies, ambassadors, and members of the diplomatic corps.
“The panel session will feature distinguished speakers, including the Ambassador of the European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), and Prof. Sheriff Ghali of the University of Abuja.”
