Philanthropist excites, settles N28.3m tuition fees for 364 Gombe indigent students.

A philanthropist and Gombe businessman, Alhaji Yahaya Barambu, has paid the sum of N28,343,780m as settlement of tuition fees for 364 Gombe indigent students studying in the Gombe State University (GSU).

Safiyanu Danladi Mairiga, spokesman of Yahaya Barambu, Chairman, Jindadu Ventures Limited, who presented correspondences and payment cheque to newsmen said, the intervention was borne out of Barambu’s efforts towards supporting access to quality education for the less privileged students across the eleven LGA’s of the State.

He stated also that the beneficiaries were carefully selected based on verified records of enrollment and a demonstrated financial need. The payments came in two batches of N4,328,264m and N24,015,516m, totaling N28,343,780m.

Confirming the payments in an acknowledgement letter, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Gombe State University (GSU), Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, said the institution “acknowledged the receipt of the sum of N24,015,516m being full payment for the registration fees of 304 students of our institution for the 2024/2025 academic session”.

He stated also that “this noble gesture follows your family earlier intervention on 12th May, 2025, where you graciously paid the sum of N4,328,264m to cover the full payment for the registration of sixty students from Akko LGA and other parts are of the State”.

He explained further that the beneficiaries of Barambu’s magnanimity are drawn from various faculties including the College of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

He commended Barambu’s continued support for education particularly in relieving the financial burden of indigent students, adding, “it reflects a rare commitment to human capital development. Your contributions are not only transforming individual lives, but also strengthening our collective future”.

Number of beneficiaries of the latest payment of N24,015,516m are distributed as follows: Akko LGA 40 students; Yamaltu/Deba LGA 30 students; Gombe LGA 50 students; Kwami, Funakaye, Dukku and Nafada LGA’s 25 students each, while Balanga, Billiri, Kaltungo and Shongom LGA’s 20 students each.
