UNICEF Chief joins Paediatricians in road walk for 2025 PAN Conference in Gombe

The Chief of Field Office, UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Dr Nuzhat Rafique, has reiterated the International Agency’s, resolve to continue to partner with the Paediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN) in it’s shared agenda for the development of children in Nigeria.

Dr. Nuzhat, who personally joined the Nigerian Paediatricians in a morning Road Walk as part of activities marking the commencement of their National Conference in Gombe, told our Correspondent that UNICEF and PAN shared the same agenda for children.

She told journalists shortly after the morning exercise at the Pantami township stadium that UNICEF is fully supporting PAN activities geared towards improving child care and development during the Gombe national conference.

According to her, “PAN is one of the partners with UNICEF. We have a shared agenda for children. Children are the focus in the three day conference.

“Activities relating to child health, child survival, new-born health activities are all going on. Different workshops taking place for the neonatal resuscitation, supporting new babies how to breath, and respiratory support for children”, she stated.

She explained further that all the activities and trainings for the human resource are very important adding, “I am grateful that PAN is taking this agenda. They are actively involved in child health and newborn survival which is one of the key issues for the next generation development in Nigeria”.

The 2025 PAN Conference which is hosted in Gombe at the International Conference Centre, from 22 – 24 January, 2025, has the theme, “intersectoral collaboration in advancing child health and development”.
