The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, Friday urged the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani to sustain his governance approach which has brought about peace in the state.
Idris spoke during a courtesy visit to the governor in his office in Kaduna.
The mimister is in Kaduna for the 48th National Council on Information and National Orientation, with the theme “Enhancing Public Information Management for Inclusive Governance: Renewed Hope in Focus”
Idris said there is calmness in the political temperature of the state now as a result of the governor’s management style.
He therefore urged him to sustain it.
According to him: “We have noted how the temperature of the political climate in the state has really come down. For the first time in a very long time, we are seeing how everyone within Kanduna State appear to belong to the same family.
“The kind of cacophony of voices about differences that they have been hearing for many years appear to be disappearing in this state. We want to urge you to keep it that way. I also want to tell you that those of us in the information system are paying very close attention to what is happening in Kanduna State.

“Because once Kanduna state sneezes, the entire northern region catches cold. Therefore, we feel extremely happy with the kind of management that we are seeing happening in this state.
“We do hope that this will continue for many, many years to come.”
The Minister also commended Governor Sani for creating an enabling environment to host the Council.
In his remarks, Governor Sani thanked the Minister and his team for settling for Kaduna state, saying that the state is synonymous with learning and information management.
He therefore said the theme of the 48th Edition of the National Council Meeting is well thought out.
The governor stressed: “Government is about the people. We are servants of the people. We must therefore ensure we involve the people in our decision making processes.
” Our information management system must be structured in a way that information will reach different audiences, thereby raising their consciousness and eliciting support for government’s policies, programmes and projects.”
He added, “In Kaduna State, nurturing citizens engagement is a key pillar of our governance agenda. We consult our citizens regularly on security and developmental issues. Under the auspices of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), we strategically engage civil society organizations. We have been creatively and innovatively deploying technology to ensure transparency, accountability and citizens participation in governance.”
He stressed that the “National Council on Information and National Orientation has a strategic role to play in our economic revival efforts. “You have a responsibility to devise effective strategies to mobilize Nigerians to selflessly contribute to the Rescue Mission of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
” Another major task before the National Council on Information and National Orientation is how to frontally tackle the degeneration of moral values in Nigeria. Moral rejuvenation is key to reinventing our country and placing it on the path to sustainable growth and development.”
