Development projects: Gombe expend N2.8b on counterpart funding to donors, partners

Gombe State Government has approved the payment of two billion, eight hundred and sixty-eight million, four hundred thousand naira (N2,868,400,000.00) to development partners and donor agencies engaged in the State.

The approval was granted during a State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, as part of the State’s counterpart funds for projects and programmes being executed in the State.

Briefing newsmen shortly after the meeting, the State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Salihu Baba Alkali, while giving a breakdown of the payments said the approval was in fulfilment of agreements signed between the State Government and donor agencies and development partners.

According to him, the approval demonstrates the Government’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations and ensuring continued execution of these development projects and services across the State.

He said, “you may be aware that Gombe State hosts numerous development partners implementing various projects and programmes, and annual counterpart funding is essential for their continued operation”.

A rundown of the approval, the Commissioner explained, showed that Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has an approval of 300 million naira, Nigerian Solar for Health Projects 998,500 million naira while ACReSAL Project got a payment approval of 500 million naira.

Other approvals by the Executive Council were, Sustainable Power Supply in Nigeria (SPIN) Project, 500 million naira; SURWASH Programme,100 million naira; Nigeria for Women Project, 200 million naira while ARIN Project got a payment approval of 25 million naira.

N30 million was approved for Amen Project; N30 million for Sassakawa Project; N40 million for GOMSACA; N25 million for IMPACT project; N50 million for L PRESS Project while N50 million was approved for UNPA.
