Gombe State Deputy Governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau, was among Christian faithfuls who prayed for Nigeria as the country marks it’s 64th independent anniversary.

The special prayer which was conducted during an interdenominational Church service at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Gospel Church off Ashaka road Gombe, was organised by the State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

The special Church service also featured a special prayer for Gombe State as it clocks 28 years of creation from the old Bauchi State.

The Deputy Governor, who appreciated God for the successes and challenges faced, said there are so many reasons to celebrate 64 and 28 years of nationhood as well as Statehood respectively.

While identifying poor leadership as the bane of the nation’s development, the Deputy Governor however called for prayers for competent leadership that will surmount the challenges bedeviling the nation.

Leading the Government delegation to the service, Manassah Daniel Jatau appreciated the contributions of the church in prayers and obedience to authorities which made the peaceful coexistence and governance possible.

He acknowledged that in spite of all that Nigeria has gone through, looking back at the progress so far, Gombe State and Nigeria have a lot to appreciate God for and to celebrate their existence.

According to him, “God loves Gombe State and Nigeria. I’m also calling on us to continue to pray for the leaders at all levels for peaceful coexistence and Development”.

In his admonition, the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Gombe Chapter, Rev. Father Joseph Alphonsus Shinga, called on leadership at all levels to be proactive in governance as people are passing through difficult times.

He urged the leadership to help the people by alleviating their suffering in whatever way possible. He encouraged the people to be hopeful and prayerful, assuring that things in Nigeria will better.

The Pastor in Charge of the Church, Rev. Andrew Yusuf led the prayer of Thanksgiving and national repentance. He prayed God to be merciful, to forgive and bless Gombe State and Nigeria.

Highlight of the prayer service featured songs of praises to God by the church sub groups and the CAN women choir.
