NAN, EFCC collaborate to combat Insecurity, corruption

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have agreed to strengthen ties in combating corruption and insecurity.

The Managing Director of NAN Malam Ali M. Ali said this when featured as a guest on EFCC Radio on Friday in Abuja.

Ali had earlier paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, where he intimated him on the agency’s plan to organize an international lecture on insecurity and the fight against corruption.

The NAN boss said that the conference would come up on Oct. 3 in Abuja.

According to him visit aimed is also to enhance collaboration between NAN and EFCC by promoting information sharing in combating corruption and insecurity.

“We are committed to supporting EFCC’s anti-corruption mandate through responsible journalism and public interest reporting.

“Our goal is to promote transparency and accountability in Nigeria.”

Ali announced that NAN would be hosting an international lecture on insecurity in the Sahel region, featuring former ECOWAS Commission President Mohammed Ibn Chamber as the keynote speaker.

”The event aims to contribute to resolving Nigeria’s lingering insecurity issues.

“Insecurity in the Sahel region poses significant challenges for Nigeria and its neighbors. Our international lecture seeks to foster dialogue and cooperation among regional stakeholders.

“We believe that by bringing together experts and stakeholders, we can find solutions to these challenges.” he said

According to him, the lecture scheduled for Oct.3, is to address the wider perspective of insecurity in the Sahel region and its impact on Nigeria.

He noted that the former military head of state would chair the lecture, with the President and Commander-in-Chief as the special guest of honorur

The managing director also discussed NAN’s expansion plans, including reopening its London office, and opening an office in Moscow
