The Gombe State branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, has called on the Gombe State Government to institute an enquiry and punish those found guilty of destroying and looting private and public properties during the ongoing hunger protest.
Chairman of the NBA, Mr Benjamin Sati Esq, in a statement made available to our Correspondent, condemned the activities of some bad eggs that hijacked what was meant to be a peaceful protest in Gombe.
MR. Sati alleged that the hoodlums unleashed terror on the business premises of law abiding citizens and commercial vehicles.
He also alleged that the hoodlums carted and looted hard-earned belongings of responsible business men and women.
According to him, these acts were not only barbaric but also uncivilised and condemnable. “These bad eggs also wantonly destroyed Government buildings meant for public use and looted valuables”, Sati alleged.
“It is unfortunate to mention that those buildings affected shared the same neighbourhood with the Government House roundabout that had the presence of heavily armed security personnel and no reported caution or arrest of the said bad eggs was made”, he lamented.
While sympathizing with the Government and people of Gombe State over the said dastardly avoidable destructions, the NBA called on Governor Inuwa Yahaya of to cause an enquiry into the said criminal act with the aim of bringing the perpetrators to justice and compensating the affected persons and or businesses.
