The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Gombe State has issued a warning to party members nursing Governorship ambition in 2027 to stop distracting Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

In a strong worded communiqué issued after it’s expanded State Executive Committee Meeting, signed and made available to Journalists by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Moses Kyari Bolda, the party urged the prospective Governorship aspirants to avoid distracting the Governor from delivering his campaign promises.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya was reelected for a second four year term in the last general election in 2023 but the party said it has noted with deep concern the activities of some 2027 hopefuls who are clandestinely distracting the Governor from discharging his mandate.

Many party faithfuls however see the action as merely intended to scuttle the rising popularity of other hopefuls particularly, the current Minister of Transport, Saidu Alkali and pave the way for the Governor’s anointed candidate.

In the communiqué, the party noted with deep concern, what it described as the continued violation of extant election laws and the constitution of the party by some of its members who are aspiring to run in the 2027 Governorship election.

“The party strongly condemn the actions of these prospective aspirants for the Governorship of the State and urged them to avoid distracting the Government of His Excellency, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (CON) from delivering his campaign promises to the good people of the State.

“Accordingly, all political structures and contact committees established by these prospective candidates are hereby disbanded by the party.

“All loyal party members are urged to refrain from participating in such unlawful campaign activities until all restrictions on political campaigns are lifted.

“As a party governed by the law, we wish to reiterate our commitment to ensuring complete compliance with this directive and our willingness to sanction any member who violates the party’s constitution”, it warned.
