There was jubilation by residents of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital over the dissolution of the State task force by Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
He announced the dissolution during a meeting with the State Task Force on Sanitation and refuse contractors in Government House, Port Harcourt on Tuesday March 26.
A resident by name Elvis Fynecountry who spoke with NewsSoecing said it is a welcome development.
According to him, the task force has deviated from its original purpose of setting it up .
Another residents who pleaded anonymity said the task force has been a bone in her neck as ” they have often disturb my little business I am doing to keep body and soul together” She said.
All those spoken to on the matter commended the governor saying ‘he is a listening man who God has brought to wipe the tears of the masses’.
According to the Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the state Chief Executive said that the task force ceases to exist with immediate effect.
He directed the Special Adviser on Environmental Sanitation, Prince Obi Ohia, to take charge of the agency until government takes a decision on the leadership of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA).
