BREAKING: Supreme Court upholds NNPP’s Yusuf election as Kano governor

It was a big relief for Kano state governor, Yusuf Abba Kabir and his party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

The  Supreme Court Friday  upheld the election of Kabir.

The court, in a judgment held that the appeal by the Governor and and his party was meritorious.

Justice John Okoro, who read the lead judgment, set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal and that of the election tribunal that had sacked the NNPP candidate.

Justice Okoro held that the two lower courts were wrong to have deducted 165,616 votes from the score of the NNPC and that he was not qualified to contest the election because he was not a member of the NNPP at the time of the election.

The tri unal.anf the Court of Appeal  had held in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate.
