The Niger State Government in partnership with Tis-Buk Reality, a private developer and Refuge Mortgage Bank (Funders) have budgeted N167 billion for housing projects across the state.

No fewer than ten thousand Housing Estate are expected to be built  by the partnership within the next 84 months in the 25 Local.Hovernment Areas of the state.

The Housing Estate will be providing environmentally friendly affordable housing for the low and middle- income earners .

The Director General Niger State Housing Corporation Mr. Bashir Yakubu Harka made the disclosure during a physical inspection and working visit to the ongoing construction of green few More Raba Housing Estate in Kpakugu area in Chanchaga Local Government.

He said the projects is aimed at providing affordable housed to the people of the state, particularly the civil servants and members of the Public stressing that the housing Corporation is ready to collaborate with the developer through the provision of the needed lands at different local government areas of Niger State.

According to the Director General, the housing estate is a housing designed to provide 120 affordable homes consisting of 2- bedrooms 3- bedrooms bungalows and 4 bedrooms terrace triplexes with boys quarter located off the Minna-Bida road, Kpakugu, in Chanchaga Local Government area of Niger State.

He said the project is a plot scheme out of the planned 10,000 housing units , adding that the associated infrastructure and amenities include paved internal roads and drains electricity (Solar and public power), water,sewage treatment, landscaping, gatehouse and perimeter fence,CCTV,play areas and worship centers

Also speaking the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer MD/(CEO) Engr. Kayode Adeleke explained that the Housing Estate will be built through private public partnership (PPP) in partnership with the Niger State government in conjunction with the state Housing Corporation as land provider while Tis-Buk Reality limited will develop.

He said he the company took interest to embark on the project in Minna the state capital as a result of its historic strategic location to Nigeria and the motivational visions actions of governor Mohammed Umar Bago

He told Journalists that the 10,000 housing estate according to the managing director, will include 2500 units of , one bedroom terrace bungalows,3000 units of 2- bedrooms semi-detached bungalows and 4500 units of 3- bedrooms semi-detached bungalows residential housing units and terrace duplexes for sale to members of cooperative groups and the general public.

The planned development, he disclosed duration will be 84 months with a project development cost of N167 billion

Stating that the housing projects will provide employment for the teaming jobless youths in both skilled and unskilled and enhance internally generated revenue (IGR), of the state also to enhance the Green economy vision of the governor Mohammed Umar Bago administration and provide great catalyst for the social and poverty alleviation of the citizens of Niger State.

In his remarks, the managing director and chief executive officer MD/ (CEO) of Refuge Mortgage Bank stated that they are Tis-Buk Reality limited strategic financial partners to actualize this objective.

” Because the bank is positioned through its various housing products and services to provide opportunities for all subscribers.

” The bank has also decided to bring its presence to the state capital. The collaboration between the stakeholders is the best foot forward” he noted.

Borno State Government has signed a contract of over 10.9 billion naira with Dan Nene Construction Company for the construction of 3 major roads of about 7.26 kilometres.

The Occasion took place at the office of the Hon Commissioner Headquaters of the Ministry of Works and Housing Musa Usman Secretariat Maiduguri .

Borno State Commissioner Ministry of Works and Housing Engr Mustapha Gubio FNSE,FNI ,MechE who signed the contract on behalf of the Borno State Government said down payment of 40 percent contract sum have already been paid to the contractor with the assurance that as the work progresses subsequent payments would be made on the presentation of valuation duly vetted by the engineers on site.

The Commissioner added that with the 40 percent down payment it is expected that much progress will be achieved within short period of time as well as timely completion of the projects.

The Commissioner said out of the contractors who applied for the work Dan Nene Construction Company has been found suitable for the job and called on them to complete the project within the stipulated period of 8 month by adhering strictly to the specification of the project.

The Commissioner also directed the consultants and engineers as well as stakeholders to always be on site to ensure quality and standard of work are adhered to strictly .

The Hon Commissioner thanked the state governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum for his developmental effort and for given the ministry all the necessary support and timely release of funds for execution of projects accross the state .

The representative of the Construction Company Mr Li Chao thank Borno State Government for finding them worthy to be awarded this contract and assured to adhere strictly to the specification of the project and ensure timely completion .

 

The Permanent secretary of the Ministry, Engr Ali Goni Lawan reiterates the determination of the ministry to ensure that all the necessary procedures for supervision and other technical advice or guidance would be adequately provided to aid the progress and quality of the work .

The Project Manager Procurement Project Bureau of Public procurement, Babakura Bukar commended the Ministry for adhering strictly to all the contract procedures and that of the procurement laws.

The first road of 3.5 km is Shehu Umar Garbai/ Bursari Road from Shehu round about to link Baga Road at the state mechanical workshop,.

The second road measuring 2.4 kilometres is from Monday Market round about through Budum roundabout to Kofa Biyu. While the third one of 1.5 km Sultan Maimalar Road is from Idrissa Khadi junction to Sir Kashim Ibrahim Way through Budum round about.
