Gunmen abduct Adamawa Speaker’s CoS

The Chief of Staff to Adamawa Speaker, Usman Sahabi has been abducted by gunmen, NewsSpecng learnt.

 
It was alleged that the abductors have made contact with the family demanding a N20 million ransom.

Sahabi was abducted at the early hours of Thursday from his house in Wurro-Chekke, a community in Yola South local government area, according to multiple sources.
“Five gunmen stormed his house at 1:00am this morning and forcefully had their way into his room where they whisked him away at gun point,” one of the sources said.

Sahabi, a staff of the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), was reporting for the radio house from the Assembly before the Speaker named him his Chief of Staff.

A brother of Sahabi told The Nation the abductors already called the family to demand a N20 million ransom for Sahabi.

The Adamawa State Police Command which confirmed the abduction of Sahabi, vowed to rescue the journalist.

The image maker of the Police Command, SP Sulaiman Nguroje, said it had deployed all operational assets to ensure the rescue.

“We deployed our operational manpower and we are working round the clock to ensure that the abducted journalist is rescued alive. We have not rested on our oars since we learnt about the incident and are giving the criminals a hot chase till we rescue the journalist alive and apprehend the perpetrators,” Nguroje said in a press interview.

“DC operations has finished coordinating all rescue efforts and wish to assure his safe return to his family,” Nguroje added.
