…Says not ready to quit partisan politics now
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in February 2023 poll, Atiku Abubakar, has said that the apex court ruling on the outcome 0f the election is not enough to make him quit partisan politics.
Abubakar said last Thursday’s  ruling leaves much to be desired.

The former Vice President said this on Monday while briefing the press in Abuja.

He argued that the All Progressives Congress (APC) nominee at the time, Bola Tinubu, was ineligible to run in the February 2023 presidential election.

He accused the Supreme Court and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of facilitating illegality, identity theft, impersonation, certificate fabrication, and perjury.

Atiku said when people lose confidence in the electoral process, democracy is on life support.

He however declared that he was not in any hurry to quit partisan politics.  said, “I won’t go away. If you think I will go away, forget it.”

He made the statement in an apparent reference to his political future and the pursuit of his age-long presidential ambition, which might resume in the next election cycle in 2027. He will be 81 years old by then.⁰

The PDP candidate insisted that he won the February 25 presidential election, saying that “history will vindicate me”, adding, “what the Supreme Court did by its judgment, was to say that crime is good and should be rewarded.”

The Supreme Court had on Thursday, October 26, dismissed the appeal filed by Atiku and the PDP for lack of merit.

He had filed an appeal at the apex court challenging an earlier verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) which upheld the victory of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
