Two people have been arrested for allegedly stealing diesel belonging to Ekiti government.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in the state, DSP Sunday Abutu, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Dare Ogundare, in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday.
Abutu said that on June 20, at about 6.30 p.m., the command’s Rapid Response Squared (RRS), while on patrol on NTA road, Ado-Ekiti, arrested one of the suspects with a 25-litre jerry can containing diesel suspected to have been stolen.
He said that the suspect confessed to have stolen the diesel from the government generator located on NTA road powering the street lights in Ado-Ekiti metropolis.
The police spokesman further stated that the suspect mentioned the name of another person, who was subsequently arrested for being a partner in the crime.
Abutu said that the two suspects would be arraigned accordingly.
