The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria Thursday night crashed out of this year’s under 17 African Cup of Nations tournament following a 2-1 defeat to Burkina Faso.
In the first half, the Nigerian team couldn’t find the back of the net despite several attempts on goal.
The golden Eaglets will now pay for the missed chances in the second half when Aboubacar Camara found the back of the Golden Eaglets’ net with a rebound, which Tochukwu Ogboji failed to clear in the 45th minute of play, putting Burkina Faso one foot forward.
Camara again pulled the trigger in the 57th minute of play, scoring from the penalty spot after another blunder from Ogboji, which saw him tripped on Souleymane Alio in the penalty area.
Abubakar Abdullahi, assisted by Favour Daniel, following a corner, pulled one back for the Golden Eaglets in the 67th minute but unfortunately, it was not enough to turn the game on its head.
This defeat now means the golden Eaglets has lost the chance of playing in the FIFA under 17 world cup.
