Sudan: 3rd batch of 132 Nigerian evacuees to arrive today

Egyptian authorities send back 700 over lack of travel document

The third batch of 132 stranded Nigerians are expected to arrive the country this afternoon.

Mr. Abdulrahman Balogun, Director, Media and Protocol, Nigerians In Diaspora Commission, said the aircraft took oft 7.20am Sudanese local time with 132 Nigerian nationals (Evacuees) 124 Adults and 8 Infants.

Balogun also disclosed that the 7 hours flight is expected to arrive the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 1.30-2pm.

The plane is to have a one hour stop over at Juba, South Sudan.

Already, no fewer than 506 Nigerians have been evacuated back to Nigeria since the country started airlifting on Wednesday.

The first batch of 376 were airlifted on Wednesday by Airpeace and Nigerian Airforce plane, C 130 while the second batch of 130 with a 99% female were airlifted by a Sudanese aircraft, Taco on Friday.

The first batch were airlifted from Egypt while the second batch came in from Port Sudan.

The 3rd batch is also coming in from Port Sudan.

No airlifting yet at the third camp, Wadi Halfa.
