The Vice-Chancellor, University of Abuja, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, has sympathised with the people of Japan over a crash involving a Japanese military helicopter which crashed into the sea in Okinawa on Thursday, killing 10 persons.

Head, Information and University Relations, said he was saddened by the tragedy, given that the University had a robust relationship with Japan, which language thousands of undergraduate students study as part of their foreign language requirements.
The statement further stated, ” We are deeply shocked and saddened by the recent crash of a military helicopter in Japan, and we sympathise with the families of the victims, government and people of Japan, the families of the victims and many of our Japanese friends in Nigeria.
” This tragedy happened in a country which has a relationship with us. Do not forget that thousands of our undergraduate students offer Japanese language as part of their foreign language requirements and the UofA Japanese Language and Culture Institute (JCLI) will soon begin its academic programmes open to the general public. The UofA will be the first Nigerian University to do this.”
He prayed for the repose of the souls
of the deceased, and hoped that further tragedies of this nature would be averted in the future.
