…Women are our partners in progress, says Umar Sani
Women have great and robust ideas to contribute to the development and growth of the country, the National President of Standup for Women Society, (SWS), Deborah A. Ijadele-Adetona (Esq) has said.
Ijadele-Adetona said given the chance, women are ready to partner with the men in running the affairs of the country.
She stated this in an interview with journalists at the SWS national inauguration in Abuja.
She said “we are starting our action plans that women in all form of ramifications are ready to defend our course, to tell the whole world that we are relevant, that we are ready to partner with men.
“We are not saying men are not there but we are saying they should give us chance. If they should try women, they will realise that what is not working presently in this country will work.
“We have a great and robust idea to contribute. That is the main purpose of this organisation,” she explained.
The National President pleaded with the Nigerian government to involve women in government for the country to move forward smoothly.
SWS according to Ijadele-Adetona is an Non-Governmental Organization, NGO aimed at standing in gap for women whose voices are not heard especially in the rural areas.
In the same vein, Mallam Umar Sani, one of the Board Of Trustees of SWS and a former media aide to the Vice President, Arch. Nnamadi Sambo, said men do not have any
comparative advantage over women as they are mearnt to be partners in progress.
Sani also noted that women should aspire and work in the same category where men are experts.
“I don’t see any reason why women should not aspire and work in the same category where men are experts. We have women soldiers now where it was an exclusive reserve of the men. We have women in all strata of the society.
“So why should women not aggitate? Why should they not talk about alphabetical actions? why should they not go forward and look for things that will bring out the best in the society?”
