Commuters Suffer as Fuel Scarcity Lingers

Premium Motor spirit (PMS) otherwise known petrol has continued to remain scarce in the nation .

In virtually all the states of country, there has been continuous scarcity leaving long queues in every filling station were fuel is available.

With many petrol stations raising pump prices, transport fares have surged in recent months, even as commuters waste hours in petrol queues-induced gridlock.

Taking a drive through , Nynanya/Maraba axis we could see long queues everywhere, with price difference in all stations.

Mobil filling station , in Jikiwoyi sold at 180 per liter and there was long queues. Vehicle owners said they had spent over 2hours waiting to buy fuel.

“I got here at about 8am and I was able to buy at around 11 am. “This is becoming too much for us , government should do something ”

It was similar story in A.A Rano were commuters had to stay on long queues. This time , A.A Rano was selling at 195 per liter.

Other fuel station sells at 200, 250, 300 per liter.

Black marketers are seen everywhere in the streets carrying fuel to sell to people who can’t afford to stay in the queues

The effect of these is too enormous as citizens have experienced hike in transportation, food commodities etc.

In an interview with a tricycle owner (keke), Mr Festus. He said , “fuel no dey , na black market we dey buy now. Na 350 I buy yesterday before I fit come work today”

“Government no dey try for us for this country. Country wey get fuel still dey suffer for fuel”

When asked if he will increase his price , he said ” yes na ”

“Maraba to one-man village which used to be 50 is now 100. Every drop don add price my brother”
