The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has Urged Nigerians youths to be part of the 2023 electoral process, as it is part of their civic responsibility, Newsspecng learnt.
He advised that they should identify their candidates as they get their PVCs, ready to vote in the upcoming 2023 elections.
Tinubu who was represented by the Minister of Youths and Sports, Sunday Akin Dare, disclosed this during the interactive town hall meeting of Women Entrepreneurs For Tinubu (WEFT2023) on Wednesday in Abuja.
The meeting which was mainstreamed to helping business women is themed ‘Sustainable Business Practices that Ensures Growth of MSMEs Amidst Present Day Economic Challenges’.
Tinubu also said the party acknowledges the women and mostly the youths as they are the main forerunner in any country.
He said “I think it is important to honour our youths, the youths will be the fulcrum of the next election, you have seen their population, you have seen their enthusiasm, the strength of any Nation, is the youth, whoever becomes president will need the power of the youth, will need the intellect of the youth, will need the ingenuity of the youth, that is why this program is important.
“It Is also women focused, because gender is also on the agenda, and we have to be gender sensitive. We have seen Asiwaju Tinubu help strong men and women overtime and we believe that if we rally around him, as the presidential candidate to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari, then this country will stand a great Chance, But more importantly the youth country will benefit from this government .
“Our youths need to be part of the process, you must be part of the civic responsibility.
If you have your PVC, get ready to vote.” He said.
In her own remarks, the National Women Leader of the APC, Dr Betta Edu, said women must be empowered and lifted out of poverty, and to support and empower women, they aim to go door to door until the elections are won.
She stressed that the Tinubu Administration, if elected, aims to bring in more women into various offices across the board.
“We are empowering women ahead of the election to help build their capacity. By empowering women, we are empowering the nation, which is the reason behind this initiative.
” Tinubu has said it over and over again, 35 percent afirminity action is too small for the level of contribution women bring to mission development, but he is ready to do a minimum of 35 percent across board, not just with appointment but with employment through service, several other bids, including bids like contracts that are giving to mostly Men, he is ready to bring in women and give us seats at the table.” She added
Also speaking, the Convener of WEFT, Engineer Jennifer Adighije said, she believes that Women must be empowered, and enlightened, adding that she believes the APC under the administration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu when elected will give women more power to act.
