The sledge hammer came down hard on two very popular markets in the Federal Capital Territory, on Monday.
The Wuse Market and UTC were shut by the COVID-19 Taskforce for failing to adhere to the established health protocols on coronavirus.
The team also sealed off Murg plaza, located in Area 10, Garki.
Spokesman of the taskforce, Attah Ikharo, explained that 115 persons were arrested for failing to wear facemasks, adding that they were arraigned before a Mobile Court and fined accordingly.
He stated, “The Wuse market was shut down for failing to provide water, hand washing points and other things prescribed by the law. The market will be closed from 12am Tuesday and shall remain under lock and key until the management provided all the things expected of them.
“Thirty persons were also arrested at the market for not wearing facemasks. The UTC market and Murg plaza were equally shut down. Altogether, we arrested and arraigned 115 violators before the Mobile Court.”
