The Action Alliance presidential candidate, Hamza Al-Mustapha, has said he will end insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping within six months if elected as president in the upcoming general election.
In a statement made available by the party, the AA flagbearer promised to adhere to peace accord agreements during and after the elections next year.
Al-Mustapha while laying out his strategy to tackle insecurity if elected said, ‘‘I will end Nigeria’s insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping within six months.’’
During the signing of the peace accord, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Mr Omoyele Sowore, blamed Al-Mustapha for his role during his time as the chief security adviser to the former military ruler, General Sani Abacha.
Reacting to Sowore’s allegation, Al-Mustapha said he had no ill feelings about Sowore’s opinion, adding that he would work with Sowore should Action Alliance win the elections next year.
“Sowore is a younger brother, he bares his mind over his grudges with the past governments and his expectations of me while we were in government that I didn’t do, so that was right. He has every right to say so.
“I have respect for him, he is a young man and full of energy and if tomorrow he becomes the president, definitely he has my support, on the other hand, if God Almighty grants us the permission to be, Sowore will come on board in rendering service to Nigeria,” he said.
