FG partners Indonesia coys on aircraft component design

The Federal Government has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with two companies in Indonesia.

The MOU is on technology transfer especially in the areas of aircraft component design, testing, operations, maintenance, manufacturing as well as military equipment production.

FG through the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), signed the agreements with two Indonesian organizations; PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and PT PINDAD.

PTDI is an Indonesian indigenous aerospace industry with the capability to design and develop, test, produce, maintain, overhaul, repair and modify both commercial and military light and medium aircraft.

While, PT PINDAD is an Indonesian defense industry specialized in the manufacturing of military products in the form of weapons, armored vehicles, ammunition and industrial products in the form of forging and casting products, rail equipment and heavy equipment, amongst others.

The two events which took place at the headquarters of both organizations in Bandung, Jarkata on Wednesday, 14th September 2022 was lead by the Executive Vice chairman/Chief Executive of NASENI, Prof. Muhammed Haruna.

Special Assistant on Social Media to the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive, Peter Ewu made this known in a statement.

He stated, “The Federal Government of Nigeria’s quest to diversify the economy and move it from a consumer economy to a production and manufacturing economy has yielded another landmark achievement with the historic signing of signing of two Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and two Indonesian organizations; PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and PT PINDAD. The MoUs are aimed at technology transfer especially in the areas of aircraft component design, testing, operations, maintenance, manufacturing as well as military equipment production.

“The leader of the Delegation Prof. Muhammed Haruna, expressed delight over the journey that began in 2013 has finally come to fruition, thanked the Buhari Administration for its transformative leadership that has ensured that the MoU has finally come to fruition.

“He further stated NASENI’s readiness to kick start the processes for the technology transfer with capacity development of staff and purchase of necessary equipment and facilities for immediate assembly and production.

“NASENI has been and will remain a collaborative partner in ensuring that all the necessary equipment and facilities as enshrined in the MoU are met. The presence of the distinguished Members of Nigeria National Assembly shows the commitment and support of the Nigerian Government towards the actualization of every component of the MoUs are met.

“He further said that NASENI is the only on-purpose built intervention Agency of the Nigerian Government whose mandate include nurturing an appropriate and dynamic Science and Engineering infrastructure base for achieving home initiated and home sustained industrialization for Nigeria. Therefore the signing of these MoUs are timely and relevant as Nigeria moves towards being an industrialized nation.”

Also, “His Excellency, the Ambassador of Nigeria to Indonesia, Ambassador. Usman Ogah in his remarks urged both organizations to keep the collaborative spirit alive and continue to forge mutually beneficial platforms that will transform the economy of both countries. He said the signing of the MoU was a rekindle of the 1956 Bandung conference. The first large scale Asian–African or Afro–Asian Conference which was aimed at promoting Asian-African economic and cultural cooperation.

“The President Director of PTDI, Mr. Guys Amperiawan in his remarks during the MoU signing welcomed the Nigerian Delegation to PTDI Indonesia. He stated that NASENI and PTDI has been in intensive communication and it has been a fuilfing experience for both organizations. “PTDI is happy to sign this MoU on Technology transfer especially in the area of aircraft manufacturing. The partnership will be about growth for both organizations and will advance in a positive discussion and a mutually beneficial relationship. We look forward to maintaining the good relationships”

“Accordingly, while welcoming the Delegation at the Headquarters, the Chief of Business Strategy, PT PINDAD, Mr. Syaifuddin expressed the organizations delight and readiness to work with NASENI in actaulizing the tenets of the MoU.

“The Delegation also paid a familiarization visit to PT. PINHANTANAS, Indonesia Private Defense Industry Association operating in the field of security defense equipment, maintenance and care services, in the context of building a strong defense and security force.”
