A Lawyer, Bala Dala, has been dragged before a High Court in Potiskum for allegedly selling a plot of land, worth N110 million for two different persons.

He was dragged before the court by a businessman, Alhaji Baka Abdu.

The counsel to the complainant, Barrister Isaac Ndayamma Ambule, had prayed to the court to revoke the land sold to one Senator Ibrahim Bomoi by Dala.

He argued that the land was sold to his client earlier, for which he made payment between March 8 to 10, 2021 but later discovered that the same land was resold to the Senator.

However, counsel to the defendant, Hakeem Akilola, denied the complainant’s claim and prayed the court to dismiss the case for lack of merit.

He added that his client followed the legal way in the contested transaction.

After listening to both parties, the presiding judge, Mohammed Zannah, adjourned the case to October 4, 2021, for the continuation of the hearing.

Speaking to newsmen outside the courtroom, counsel to the complainant explained that they were in court to secure justice for his client.

He said, “My client purchased land that was given to him for N110 million.

“He first paid N35,500,000 and later N70,500,000 between March 8 to 10, 2021.

“Alerting the last transfer of the money, only for him to be told that the property has been sold to another. That is why we come to court,” he added.

The defence counsel however declined to comment.
