The Federal Government had on June 4 announced the indefinite suspension of the operations of the microblogging and social networking platform in the country, days after Twitter deleted a tweet by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), which it said violated its rules.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, had indicated that the lifting of the ban is an issue of matter of days following twitter’s agreement to most of the government conditions.

The minister had cited ‘the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence’ as the reason for the suspension.
