No fewer than 60 million Nigerians have been captured by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), NewsSpecng learnt.
The commission said the feat could not have been possible without the cooperation of all stakeholders, including the general public.
The commission announced the feat in a statement signed by Kayode Adegoke, Head, Corporate Communications.
According to the statement, the commission said it was delighted to announce more than 60 million as the total number of unique NIN records in the National Identity Database (NIDB).
The statement further read, “This feat couldn’t have been possible without the cooperation of all stakeholders including the general public.
“The transformational value of a robust and inclusive foundational ID system in today’s world cannot be overstated. As a Commission, we’re committed to keeping this momentum of scaling up and speeding up NIN issuance nationwide for better identification, authentication and improved service delivery. It is the Primary Identification for all citizens and legal residents. “
NIMC also commended the Minister of Communications & Digital Economy Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami) for his invaluable leadership and to all our stakeholders & partners in progress.
The commission also reminded Nigerians that their NIN is their identity.
