NGO organises medical outreach in Ijayapi Community

An Abuja based Non Governmental Organization, Morning Star Health Foundation on Saturday organized a medical outreach in Ijayapi Community in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT to create awareness on the importance of checking one’s health.

Speaking during the event which has over 150 participants, the Executive Director of the Foundation, Blessing Yakubu explained that the foundation had carried out an assessment in communities to ascertain which community is best fit for medical Intervention.

She added that the Ijayapi Community has been found to have many careless death with lack of awareness and financial challenges.

These challenges she said prompted the group to conduct the outreach to enable them pay attention to the health issues of the people.

“We have checked this environment and realized that there is need for health care. Which is why we came up with the foundation, Morning Star Health Foundation.

“Today, we are going to be tested. There are a lot of careless death in this community but people term it to be witchcraft. It only shows that there is low medical awareness. There is need for early intervention for any illness before it goes out of hands,” she said.

She said that the organisation had the passion in providing medical outreach and health facilities to people especially at the rural areas.

“This is just a call to humanity and we are trying to reach out to people, basically the satellite towns because this people find it difficult to access proper healthcare.

“We know what it takes to pay for medical treatment in some families and I know what the people in the rural communities are facing especially at this hard time, she said.

Chief of Ijayapi, Chief Isah Danjuma Dakaci while appreciating the group for the kind gesture also pointed out that many of the inhabitants of the community will benefit from the outreach ranging from free malaria, cholera, hepatitis, diabetes and hypertension tests and health talks.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Linda Ejeh expressed gratitude to the organisation for the kind gesture.
