The Presidency has confirmed the defection of the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
This is according to a Facebook post by Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, on Sunday.
“So Zamfara is back home, Welcome Matawalle,” the post read.
The defection has, however, not been confirmed by the governor who, back in April, was visited by six PDP governors, a move to persuade him from joining the APC.
The governors, including Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Darius Ishaku of Taraba, Umar Fintiri of Adamawa and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto.
