Women group gives FG two months to address security challenges

An advocacy group for the rights of women, StandUp for Women Society, (SWS) has issued the Federal Government two months ultimatum to fix the country’s security challenges.

The group warned that should the government fail, it would lead Nigerian women out on a peaceful national protest.

This was contained in a statement signed by its National President, Barr. Deborah Abosede Ijadele-Adetona and Bilikisu Ado-Zango, National Publicity secretary and made available to our reporter in Abuja

The group said the heat of insecurity has led to the increase in the number of widows and orphans across the nation.

Therefore the group stated, It’s on this note that, Standup for Women Society (SWS) is vehemently condemning all these acts of man inhumanity to man and  insecurity in our nation.

“Should no critical action be taken on all major aspects of inhuman within the next two months, commencing from the month of June, SWS will lead Nigeria women in peaceful National protests .”

The group further warned that if the situation is not tackled headlong, it may lead to serious famine, while poverty level will continue to rise, social vices and crime rate will increase, especially among youths which will definitely plunge the country in chaos  and calamity.

She also noted that the group is particularly concerned with the situation in the North Central, North East, South West and South South areas of the country.

She said, “the Nigerian women and concerned Nigerian citizens are highly disturbed with the increase in the numbers of widows, fatherless and motherless children, across the nation, particularly our people from the North Central, North East, South West and South South areas of the country. It is worth noting that the  heat of this insecurity also gets to the Relief Centres and individuals homes.

“Worst of it all is that Farmers can no longer go to their farmlands , road transport is fastly becoming a mirage, most small business owners can no longer operate due to the state of insecurity in our nation and the  roads are becoming imotorable. The future effects of all these will  invite famine in the families, poverty level will continue to rise, social vices and crime rate will increase especially among youths which will definitely plunge our dear Nation in chaos  and calamity.”
