World Bank and IMF Recognize Tinubu’s Reforms as $1 Trillion Economy Target Remains Within Reach, Says APC National Chairman Yilwatda

Releated Post

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has asserted that the bold economic reforms initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are establishing a robust foundation for sustainable national prosperity, noting that their trajectory has garnered validation from premier global financial bodies like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Professor Yilwatda made the declaration in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, where thousands gathered at the Senator Godswill Akpabio International Stadium to welcome President Tinubu and his entourage for a high-profile political rally.
Addressing the cheering crowd, the APC National Chairman praised the President’s political will in tackling deep-seated structural bottlenecks, emphasizing that such resolute leadership is vital to steering Nigeria toward long-term economic resilience.
Steering Clear of Past Pitfalls
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Professor Yilwatda conceded that the administration’s reform measures have necessitated painful short-term adjustments. However, he warned that relenting on these policies would equate to forfeiting hard-won progress and plunging the nation back into the fiscal vulnerabilities that triggered the restructuring.
”Never again should Nigeria return to Egypt,” Yilwatda declared. “We cannot afford to abandon the difficult but necessary work of rebuilding our economy and repositioning our country for sustainable growth.”
He maintained that the administration’s overarching goal of building a $1 trillion economy transcends empty political rhetoric, serving instead as a deliberate, policy-backed national development milestone supported by sweeping structural overhauls.
Highlights of the Administration’s Infrastructure and Social Agenda
Professor Yilwatda drew attention to several flagship initiatives serving as the bedrock of the federal economic transformation strategy:
Strategic Infrastructure: He spotlighted the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as a monumental project set to dramatically enhance regional connectivity, boost commerce, and unlock unprecedented economic potential for Akwa Ibom and other coastal states.
Maritime Sector Expansion: The APC chairman underscored the administration’s commitment to harnessing Nigeria’s maritime assets to amplify the economic competitiveness of coastal communities.
Education & Human Capital: He lauded the implementation of the student loan scheme, which has broadened access to higher education for ordinary citizens.
Social Investment & Tax Relief: Yilwatda noted that ongoing tax overhauls are structured to alleviate financial burdens on low-income earners and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), allowing them to retain more capital.
Industrial Harmony: He also credited the federal government for fostering stability within educational institutions and successfully settling outstanding financial obligations owed to workers, pensioners, and retirees of previously privatized public entities.
Urging citizens to stay the course, Yilwatda called for unwavering public support for the “Renewed Hope” agenda, expressing confidence that current policies will ultimately position Nigeria as a dominant economic force on the African continent.
