Lagos State has the highest number of registered voters in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The figures were disclosed by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, on Tuesday during the Commission’s World Press Conference in Abuja.

The briefing formed part of INEC’s activities to update Nigerians on its preparations for the 2027 general elections.

According to the Commission, Lagos has a total of 7,488,633 registered voters, placing it at the top of the national ranking.

Kano State follows in second position with 6,000,570 registered voters, while Kaduna State ranks third with 4,000,640.

Katsina State occupies the fourth position with 3,876,051 registered voters, followed by Oyo State with 3,588,111.

Delta State ranks sixth with 3,525,988 registered voters, while Benue State comes seventh with 3,057,225.

Ogun State occupies the eighth position with 3,037,981 registered voters.

Rivers State ranks ninth with 3,000,734 registered voters, while Bauchi State completes the top 10 with 3,000,047 registered voters.

The figures underscore the concentration of Nigeria’s voter population across some of the country’s most populous states and will be significant to the conduct and planning of the 2027 general elections.
