The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has announced that the maiden edition of the Agricultural Mechanization for Export-Quality Products in Africa (AGROMEQA EXPO 2026) will hold from October 15 to 16, 2026, in Abuja.
The President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu, disclosed this on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, during a press briefing at the Chamber’s President’s Conference Room in Abuja.
According to Dr Obegolu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, the two-day agricultural exhibition and investment platform is being organised jointly by the Agricultural Trade Group and JMT Plus Farms and Agro-Allied, in collaboration with ACCI.
He said the Expo was designed to reposition Nigeria’s agricultural sector through increased mechanisation, technology adoption, value addition, investment mobilisation and improved access to international export markets.
The event, which was initially announced on April 21, 2026, and originally scheduled for the middle of the year, was postponed following consultations with stakeholders and partners across the agricultural value chain.
Obegolu explained that the revised date would provide participating organisations, exhibitors, investors, government agencies, development partners, farmers, researchers and other stakeholders with additional time to prepare adequately and participate fully.
He said the Expo would take place at the Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, SAN, Trade and Convention Centre, ACCI Complex, Km 8, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway, Airport Road, Abuja.
Themed “Technology and Investment for Agro-Export,” AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to examine how technology, mechanisation and private capital can accelerate the transformation of Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
Obegolu said the theme reflected the urgent need to move agriculture away from predominantly subsistence production towards a modern, technology-driven, investment-led and export-oriented sector.
He noted that AGROMEQA EXPO would promote agricultural mechanisation, strengthen export-quality production systems, facilitate technology transfer, encourage value addition and attract sustainable investments across the agricultural value chain.
A major highlight of the Expo, according to the ACCI president, would be its official declaration by the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON.
The President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Engr. Jani Ibrahim, OON, mni, is also expected to deliver the keynote address.
His presentation will focus on “Agricultural Export and the Role of Private Capital in Its Value Chain.”
The Expo is expected to attract policymakers, government representatives, agribusiness investors, industry leaders, agricultural machinery manufacturers, technology providers, research institutions, academics, farmers’ associations, development partners, financial institutions, agro-processors, exporters, logistics operators and international organisations.
Obegolu said participants would have the opportunity to explore a wide range of agricultural technologies and innovations through exhibitions featuring mechanised farming equipment, precision farming tools, irrigation systems, agro-processing technologies, packaging solutions and climate-smart agricultural technologies.
The programme will also feature high-level plenary sessions, technical discussions, interactive workshops, business-to-business engagements and investment forums aimed at encouraging collaboration, mobilising capital and facilitating technology transfer.
He described the Expo as more than an exhibition, stressing that it would also serve as a strategic investment marketplace connecting farmers, local producers, agritech developers, processors and agribusiness operators with investors seeking opportunities across the agricultural value chain.
According to him, investment opportunities would span mechanisation, agro-processing, logistics, storage, packaging and export operations.
Another major feature of the event will be a live demonstration arena where participants will have the opportunity to see modern agricultural machinery and technologies in operation.
A dedicated agro-processing and packaging platform will also showcase opportunities for local value addition and improved competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.
In an effort to encourage young people to participate in agriculture, the Expo will feature a Schools’ Agro Exhibition and Competition.
Obegolu said the initiative was designed to stimulate interest, creativity and innovation among young people while exposing them to the opportunities available within the agricultural sector.
The ACCI president stressed that agriculture remained critical to Nigeria’s economic transformation, but said the sector must embrace mechanisation, innovation, research, technology, investment and stronger market linkages to achieve its full potential.
He said AGROMEQA EXPO represented the collective resolve of ACCI, the Agricultural Trade Group and JMT Plus Farms and Agro-Allied to accelerate agricultural modernisation and position the sector as a major driver of national prosperity.
He added that increased mechanisation and strategic investment could help unlock Nigeria’s agricultural potential, create decent employment opportunities, strengthen rural economies, improve food security and increase value addition.
The initiative, he said, could also enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in regional and international agro-export markets.
“We are confident that AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 will catalyse investment inflows, create opportunities for technology transfer, strengthen business networks, and stimulate strategic collaborations capable of delivering sustainable economic value,” Obegolu said.
He therefore called on Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government, private sector operators, development partners, financial institutions, research institutions, farmers’ associations, international organisations and other stakeholders in the agribusiness sector to participate actively in the Expo.
According to him, collaboration, innovation, investment and capital mobilisation would remain essential to achieving sustainable agricultural transformation and establishing Nigeria as a major agro-export player in Africa and beyond.
Obegolu also solicited the support of the media in providing extensive coverage and visibility for the event, saying the Expo would generate conversations, investment opportunities, innovative ideas and partnerships capable of shaping the future of agriculture in Nigeria and Africa.
He expressed optimism that, with the participation of government, private sector operators, development partners, farmers, innovators, investors and the media, AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 could evolve into a flagship agricultural event.
He said the Expo would seek to set new benchmarks in agricultural innovation, investment facilitation, collaboration, capacity development, mechanisation and agro-export promotion.
