The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship hopeful for Benue State, Engr. Benjamin Akaakar, has strongly condemned the gruesome killing of innocent residents by suspected armed herdsmen in Otukpo-Onobi, Idoma land, Benue State.
In a statement, Engr. Akaakar expressed profound sorrow and deep anguish over the tragic incident, describing the attack as barbaric, inhumane, and completely unacceptable.
He said the loss of innocent lives is a painful reminder of the worsening security challenges confronting Benue State and the urgent need for decisive action to safeguard communities.
He called on relevant security agencies and appropriate government authorities to immediately investigate the attack, apprehend those responsible, and ensure they are brought to justice.
He further urged the government to strengthen security measures across the state to protect lives and property and prevent a recurrence of such senseless violence.
The NDC governorship hopeful also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the people of Otukpo-Onobi, and the entire Idoma nation over the tragic loss.
He prayed for God’s comfort and strength for those mourning, speedy recovery for the injured, and eternal rest for the souls of the departed.
“This unfortunate incident underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive and lasting solution to the persistent insecurity affecting our communities. Every life is precious, and no family should have to endure such avoidable tragedy,” he said.
Engr. Akaakar prayed that the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace.
