Distinguished Senator Aniekan Bassey has lauded Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D, for a groundbreaking security masterstroke that integrates 2,272 Village Youth Presidents into the state’s grassroots security architecture.
Speaking after the official unveiling ceremony at the Uyo Township Stadium on Sunday, Senator Bassey hailed the transformative initiative as a visionary milestone under the Governor’s ARISE Agenda.
He emphasized that by positioning local youth leaders as a vital bridge between communities, traditional institutions, and law enforcement agencies, the administration is effectively fortifying the state’s villages as the primary line of defense through localized intelligence gathering and deep-rooted community engagement.
”Security is a collective responsibility, and by giving our youth a meaningful role in nation-building, we are building a safer state from the ground up,” Senator Bassey remarked.
The lawmaker particularly commended the introduction of a strategic reward system for actionable intelligence, describing it as a bold, patriotic incentive to foster unprecedented vigilance across Akwa Ibom.
Reaffirming his unwavering legislative support for the executive’s security policies, Senator Bassey stressed that the initiative not only deepens youth participation in governance but also guarantees the absolute protection of lives and property.
He reiterated his commitment as a representative of the people to championing sustainable frameworks that empower the younger generation while safeguarding the peace and economic prosperity of the state.
