Parts of the Kugbo Bus Terminal have been damaged by the Tuesday windstorm in Kugbo Abuja
The windstorm also caused minor damages to the pedestrian bridge and some nearby buildings.
The storm occurred during heavy rainfall earlier in the day.
Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, confirmed the incident in a statement issued via his X handle.
He said no one was injured in the incident.
“Windstorm has damaged some parts of the Kugbo Bus Terminal, Nyanya, Abuja.
“The windstorm, which occurred during heavy rainfall a few hours ago, also caused minor damage to the Nyanya pedestrian bridge and some buildings in the area.
“From preliminary reports, no one was injured, and no vehicle was damaged,” Olayinka said.
He added that, to maintain law and order and ensure the free flow of traffic, security personnel have been deployed to the affected areas on the FCT Minister’s orders.
“Ongoing efforts will ensure immediate action is taken to repair the damages caused by the windstorm,” he said
