The Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, Senator Nenadi E. Usman, has called on Nigerians not to lose hope despite prevailing socio-economic challenges, urging citizens to draw strength from the message of Easter, which symbolizes faith, sacrifice, and triumph over adversity.
In her Easter message issued on Saturday, Senator Usman congratulated Christians across Nigeria and globally as they commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, describing the occasion as a cornerstone of Christian faith and a reminder of the power of resilience.
She noted that Christ’s resurrection, which followed His crucifixion, embodies the essence of Christianity—highlighting forgiveness, endurance, and hope even in the face of extreme suffering.
“Even in His final moments, Christ forgave His accusers and extended hope of eternal life to those around Him,” she stated, adding that the resurrection serves as proof that no challenge is insurmountable when met with faith and perseverance.
The Labour Party leader emphasized that the Easter season offers a timely opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the state of the nation and recommit themselves to values that foster unity, justice, and national progress.
she urged citizens not to succumb to despair but to remain optimistic about the country’s future. Drawing parallels with the disciples of Christ, she encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their belief that a better tomorrow is achievable.
“At this pivotal moment in our national history, we must all examine the role we play in building a more united and equitable society,” she said.
Senator Usman also called on leaders at all levels of government to intensify efforts toward alleviating the hardship faced by Nigerians, stressing the need for responsive governance and people-oriented policies.
While acknowledging the expectations placed on those in authority, she underscored that nation-building is a collective responsibility that requires commitment from both leaders and citizens.
“We must uphold the values of integrity, diligence, and patriotism in all that we do,” she added.
She concluded by wishing Nigerian Christians a peaceful and reflective Easter celebration, expressing hope that the season would inspire renewed faith and national cohesion.
