The Deputy President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has expressed profound sadness over the recent wave of violent attacks in parts of Jos, Plateau State, which led to the tragic loss of lives and the destruction of properties.

Condemning the acts in the strongest terms, the Deputy Senate President emphasized that violence can never be a solution to any grievance.

SENATOR BARAU called for an immediate end to the hostilities, reminding all stakeholders that Plateau, famously known as the “Home of Peace and Tourism,” must be preserved as a sanctuary for all citizens.

In a heartfelt appeal for de-escalation, Senator Barau urged all parties involved to “sheathe their swords” and prioritize dialogue as the only effective tool for conflict resolution.

While commiserating with the government and the people of Plateau State, he extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and offered prayers for the quick recovery of those injured in the attacks.

The deputy Senate President stressed that the pursuit of peace is a collective responsibility that outweighs any underlying differences, urging the community to give peace a chance for the sake of the state’s future.

Furthermore, the Deputy Senate President commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his swift and decisive leadership in response to the crisis.

Senator Barau lauded the President decision to postpone a scheduled trip to Iperu, Ogun State, to visit Jos personally, describing the move as a testament to the Commander-in-Chief’s commitment to the security and well-being of all Nigerians.

Senator Barau reaffirmed the National Assembly support for executive measures aimed at restoring lasting peace, progress, and stability to Plateau State and the nation at large.
