The Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, has presented ₦10 million in bursary awards to 200 students under the 2026 “Ijede-Tunrayo Bursary Scheme.”
According to a statement released by the LCDA’s Public Affairs Unit, the initiative is designed to ease financial strain on families while aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Under the scheme, each beneficiary—selected from wards across the council area—received a ₦50,000 grant to support their tertiary education.
Delivering her keynote address during the presentation ceremony, Gbadebo-Alogba congratulated the recipients and reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to driving youth empowerment and educational development across Ijede.
”Ijede LCDA will continue to support programmes that elevate our students and position our council area as a hub for academic excellence and innovation,” Gbadebo-Alogba said. “I challenge you all to view this bursary not just as financial assistance, but as a vote of confidence from your community. We believe in your abilities, and we expect great things from you.”
Also speaking at the event, apex political leader Alhaji Jamiu Quadri charged the students to remain dedicated to their studies and justify the council’s investment in their future.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, Com. Idowu Ilayas, President of the Ijede Students’ Union, expressed appreciation to the council chairman, assuring the administration that the students would excel academically and make the community proud.
The event drew several key local government figures and community stakeholders, including Vice Chairman Hon. Femi Kabir, members of the legislative arm, supervisors, department heads, and traditional leaders.
