Ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, alongside leaders of the factional African Democratic Congress led by David Mark, and the factional Peoples Democratic Party under the leadership of Tanimu Turaki (SAN), were locked in a crucial closed-door meeting on Wednesday.
The meeting, NewsSpecng gathered, deliberated on key political developments and strategies.
Among those at the meeting held at Mark’s Apo residence in Abuja are PDP factional National Chairman Turaki, former Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, former Governors Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (Kano), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Peter Obi (Anambra), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, and PDP National Secretary, Taofeeq Arapaja.
Others present include ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, and PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong.
Sources from both the ADC and PDP camps, disclosed that the meeting is aimed at exploring ways for opposition leaders to work together to challenge President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress in 2027.
One of the sources added that the meeting will also review internal crises within both parties, deliberate on key national issues, and develop strategic plans going forward.
The major opposition parties, the factional PDP and ADC, are currently grappling with internal leadership crises, marked by the emergence of rival factions and ongoing court disputes.
