The Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, has expressed deep appreciation for the purposeful leadership demonstrated by Governor Inuwa Yahaya over the years.

The Emir made his feelings known when he paid the traditional Sallah homage to the Governor in Government House where he noted that under Inuwa’s leadership, Gombe has witnessed unprecedented development across all sectors.

The visit is an age long traditional practice in the State marking Eid-el-Fitr celebration and provides an opportunity for the revered monarch to felicitate with the Governor and the people of the State on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, while also strengthening the bond between the traditional institution and the Government.

The Emir told the Governor that, “I am proud of you, Your Excellency. Your leadership has brought remarkable transformation to Gombe State. Since the creation of the State, we have never witnessed this level of development until the coming of your administration.

“You made a promise to the people of Gombe that you will not fail them, and today, it is evident for all to see that you have kept to your word. I am proud of you, and so are the people of this state,” the Emir pointed out.

The monarch also commended the Governor for promoting peace and unity, as well as his inclusive style of governance especially that traditional institutions have been carried along in the business of governance.

He used the occasion to reel out the Governor’s sector-by-sector achievements, particularly in health, infrastructure, education, energy, industry and economic development, as well as his deliberate efforts to extend meaningful development to underserved communities across the State.

Responding, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed gratitude to the monarch for the visit and the consistent support, prayers and guidance to his administration.

The Governor noted the cordial relationship between his administration and the traditional institution, particularly the Gombe Emirate Council, describing it as a critical pillar in the successes recorded by his government.

“Our relationship with the traditional institution, especially with His Royal Highness, the Emir of Gombe, has been very cordial and productive. I deeply value the counsel, support, and cooperation we have continued to receive, which have greatly contributed to the peace and development of our dear State”, the Governor said.

Reflecting on his stewardship over the past seven years, Governor Inuwa Yahaya noted that his administration has laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth and development, with significant strides recorded in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and economic reforms.

The Governor assured that his administration remains committed to leaving behind enduring legacies that will stand the test of time and continue to benefit future generations.

“Our goal is not just to execute projects, but to build lasting legacies that will continue to impact positively on the lives of our people long after we have left office”, he maintained.

The Governor also used the occasion to call on the people of the state to sustain the spirit of unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence exemplified during the Ramadan period.

The visit was crowned by the symbolic presentation of the traditional Sallah gift (Goron Sallah) to the Emir by Governor Inuwa Yahaya, followed by a colourful durbar procession featuring the Emir and an array of traditional title holders.
