Over 1,500 benefit from Rotary, GSPHCDA free community medical outreach in Gombe

No fewer than one thousand five hundred persons benefited from Rotary International’s community medical outreach in five different locations across Gombe State.

The medical outreach which was done in collaboration with the Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency (GSPHCDA), took place between 16th to 19th March, 2026 and had Children under 5–15 years, Women of child bearing age, Elderly population including male and female as the targeted beneficiaries.

The venues for the outreach included London Mai Dorawa in Gombe LGA; Kalorgu community, shamaki ward and Ture Balam of Kaltungo LGA and Liji ward, Gindin Waziri, also at Ngare community in Zambuk ward of Yamaltu Deba LGA, Gombe State.

‎The outreach is part of Rotary’s efforts towards reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality in Gombe state.

The community engagement programmes by Rotary is currently ongoing in four States namely, Ekiti, FCT, Gombe, and Nasarawa, where the PoS project (Together for Healthy Family In Nigeria) is been implemented under the leadership of the Country Director and National Coordinator, Prof. Emmanuel A. Lufadeju.

‎In London Mai Dorawa, Mai Unguwa Dadde, Mallam Adamu Ishiyaku Garba, appreciated the efforts of Rotary International for bringing healthcare services closer to the community and providing essential services at their doorsteps, while the District Head of Liji, Mallam Umar Abdullahi, expressed profound appreciation towards the free services received.

Technical workers who carried out the medical outreach‎ included 16 skilled healthcare workers who delivered the services from each LGA, bringing the number to 48 persons who actively participated in the exercise.

These technical staff includes Nurses, Midwives, CHOs, Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs), Laboratory Technicians, Pharmacy Technicians, Medical Records Technicians, and Social Mobilization officers.

Ward Development Officers(WDCs), Local Government RH Coordinators, M&E officers, MCH Coordinators and other Rotarians from Rotary Club of Kaltungo also graced the activities.

The Rotary Representative in Gombe State Mr Mohammed Dantata Ndus, who is also the Gombe State APC Chairman, appreciated the State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for giving priority to healthcare delivery in Gombe State and for supporting the activities of the Rotary International.

He equally commended the Commissioner of Health, Dr Habu Dahiru for his commitment to the issues of health in the State and his open doors to the Rotary International.

A cross section of beneficiaries of the outreach from the different communities, expressed appreciation and gratitude to Rotary International for showing interest in their healthcare.
